US LLC Bank Account Rejected? A Non-Resident Checklist

US LLC bank account rejected? Start with the provider's actual notice and your submitted facts. A rejection does not necessarily mean the LLC is invalid, and forming another company does not necessarily fix the problem. The useful next step is to distinguish missing information, inconsistent records and a genuine eligibility mismatch.

A rejection does not necessarily mean the LLC is invalid, and forming another company does not necessarily fix the problem. Avoid guessing at the reason or repeatedly submitting altered applications. Preserve the original application details and any correspondence so you can make an accurate, focused inquiry.

US LLC bank account rejected: identify what the notice says

More information requested

This may be an incomplete review rather than a final rejection. Identify the exact document or explanation requested and the secure upload channel. Supply the relevant evidence instead of sending a large bundle of unrelated files.

An inconsistency identified

Compare the names, numbers, addresses and ownership details with issued records. Correct the underlying error; do not modify an official document to make it match a mistaken application.

A declined application

Ask whether clarification or reconsideration is available. The provider may not disclose every reason, and it may not offer a route to approval. A refusal is not permission to misstate the facts in a second attempt.

Check address types before buying another service

Different addresses serve different purposes. Mercury's company-address guidance, for example, distinguishes the company's legal and physical addresses. Wise separately distinguishes registered and trading addresses. These examples show why a purchased mailing address is not automatically acceptable for every field. Mercury company-address guidance, Wise business-address guidance.

Read our business-address comparison before paying for a replacement address. Ask which specific problem the service solves and whether the provider accepts that kind of evidence.

Build a document comparison sheet

Detail Records to compare
Legal name Formation record, IRS notice and application
Taxpayer identification Issued IRS evidence and the entered number
Owners Agreement, ownership register and application
Authority Who can act for the company and supporting records
Activity Website, contracts and the business description
Locations Actual operating, registered and personal addresses

Some differences are legitimate; a trading name can differ from the legal name. Explain the relationship with appropriate evidence instead of forcing every field to use the same label.

Our EIN application-mistakes guide helps separate an IRS-record issue from a bank application typo.

Make your business explanation specific

“Online business” gives little information about what money will move through an account. Describe the product or service, customer locations, expected suppliers, source of startup funds and planned transaction pattern.

If the company is new, describe plans as plans. Do not invent customers or inflate projected revenue to appear established. Keep a simple website consistent with the business you actually intend to operate.

Decide whether to clarify or compare another provider

Clarify a correctable problem

If the provider identifies a missing or inconsistent item, respond directly and retain the submission record. Avoid sending a new application unless instructed.

Compare eligibility elsewhere

If the arrangement is outside a provider's supported scope, another provider may have different rules. Compare the actual residence, activity, operating location and payment needs before applying. Our non-resident banking guide provides a broader preparation framework.

Keep the company compliant while you decide

A banking setback does not automatically close the LLC or stop its ongoing obligations. Track notices and maintenance dates while reviewing the business plan. If you decide not to proceed, use an appropriate closure process rather than abandoning the entity.

Avoid fixes that create a larger problem

Do not buy another person's account, use a false resident representative or submit fabricated leases. These actions create inconsistent ownership and location records and can expose the business to much larger problems than a delayed launch.

Before forming another entity, establish why it would solve the actual issue and what additional costs it creates. Contact PrimeRegister for company-document or formation questions. Account approval remains the provider's decision; a clear application improves the quality of the review but cannot guarantee its outcome.

Frequently asked questions

Should I immediately form another LLC after a rejection?
No. First identify whether the issue concerns documents, eligibility or another factor that a new entity would not change.
Can a registered-agent address fix every address rejection?
No. The provider may be asking for a real operating or residential address rather than a legal-notice address.
Does rejection mean my LLC is closed?
No. The company’s legal status and ongoing obligations are separate from the account decision.
